His shoulder was fubar in 2003 and I'd imagine early 2004 it was still healing. I doubt he'll ever be hitting 40 homers again, but I still don't think you improve the team by trading him, his market value is pretty low it would seem.

Agreed, I hope they don't trade him because I think he may keep getting better (compared to the last two years).
It's going to be interesting to see what the Dodgers do this off-season. There is some talk that they'll do everything they can to sign Beltre and will go after some FAs or trades to fill in the holes (Ross being the biggest hole to fill). But then I hear talk that they'll go cheap and keep cutting payroll. If they do, the new owner may be the one that is run out on a rail.
