Mitchell Blasts Armstrong For Lbc Crown
October 2, 1905
Charley Mitchell (18-4) revenge one of his loses with a TKO15 over Bob Armstrong (18-6-2) to win the new LBC title. Armstrong was never in the fight getting knocked down in the 2nd and 4th to dig a huge hole.
He won a few middle rounds before getting blasted in the later rounds. He was knocked down in the 10th, 11th, and 3 times in the 15th before the ref stepped in with less than one minute remaining.
Mitchell had lost a UD10 to Armstrong in April of 1904. This was his 6th straight win since which included impressive victories over Sam McVey and Tom Sharkey.
I had the bout 137-125 at the time of the stoppage. Ringside expert Dan Cuoco had it 137-127.
