heh, looks like i need to explain a bit more...

the league started with every single player being put on the auction block for a one year contract. each team started with 67mil in revenue with which to fill their team in the auction... there were some crazy winning bids (Bret Boone, 10mil.. my bad) and some crazy good deals (Jody Gerut for a mil). some teams (Boston, Anaheim) signed several players to contract extensions, while some teams signed only a few players (or even none).

around 90% of the players are free agents in this first offseason, which we see as a gigantic advantage to the league, since the teams that will be getting new ownership won't be hamstrung by bad contracts, horrible revenue, or seeing all the great players already signed long term with other teams.... next offseason won't be so kind to teams, as a lot of these first FA signings will be for multiple years.

so... yes, the RLPA is a great place to join an established league and still be able to build your team the way you want to.
