Many in the text-sim community have their 'pet' topic. There is a schedule guy, career path guys, play by play guys, historical accuracy guys... I'm sure you get my drift.
This is my pet issue. With so many on the OOTP boards worried about what effect a merger with SI is going to do to the game, why wouldn't you support as many baseball simulations as you possibly can.
Download the Puresim demo and spend some time with the game. Once you got an idea of what kind of features it has, take note that Shaun has developed the game in his spare time. The game has made remarkable strides over the past 2 years or so and 1.5 is easily the best version yet.
Nothing drives innovation like competition. If enough people bought Puresim to make the game Shaun's full-time occupation you'd see both Puresim and OOTP improve.
I am not advocating buying the game as charity. I'm advocating giving the game a test-run, giving Shaun your honest feedback and then watching how fast that feedback becomes part of the game. It's an advantage of having a smaller community where ideas can still get into the game quickly and can be finetuned working one on one with the developer.
I can say this for 1.5. I play a 10 team fictional league (Cap Cod League). I had won about 5 titles in the first 10 years of my assocation. Since the latest patch, I haven't won a title, and I'm playing with really no house rules other then I don't sign free agents during the season. I've only fallen into the second division once, but the game has become a much better solo challenge.
If you love text-sim baseball and you want to help yourself and the baseball text-sim community, you should buy as many legitimate baseball text sims as you can get your hands on.
I'll make you guys a deal. Download the demo, post your feedback on the Puresim message board over the next month or so and
I'll buy the game for whoever can come up with the most productive feedback and ideas.
