BIVINS PULLS OUT VICTORY WITH 14TH ROUND TKO
Highly touted Lightheavyweight Jimmy Bivins looked in danger of losing to 20 year old upstart Harold Johnson until the the veteran fighter struck with a flurry of punches late in the 14th round. With just two seconds remaining in the fight the referee called it. Many in the crowd booed as it was obvious Johnson was ahead on points but the youngster was also out on his feet and defenseless when the decision to stop the bout was made.

With the TKO Bivins improves to 29-3 and appears to be in line for a shot at the Lightheavyweight title, perhaps as early as next year.

BUSY DAY AND NIGHT AHEAD
While yesterday was extremely quiet today and tonight promise plenty of excitement in the sports world. In golf, the Masters tees off this morning in Augusta, Georgia. Ben Hogan is the defending champion.

In the NHL, it's game two of the Stanley Cup finals between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs took the opener 5-0. Meanwhile in basketball it's game four of the Washington-Chicago semi-final from the Windy City. The Capitols lead the best of seven series two games to one but will once again be without two key players. Center John Mahnken and guard Freddie Scolari are sidelined with injuries. The other semi-final, a best of three affair, tips off at Madison Square Garden as the New York Knickerbockers host Philadelphia.

Looking a little further ahead it's just 3 more days until baseball season begins.
