With regards to the above comment, I think it's a very important comment to look at. There is nothing wrong with what you are saying and it is a position I take with many purchases (games and others). The only point I want to make is that with an independently developed game like this, if it's close and you have the money you should buy it.
Only by purchasing a game do you keep the game, and the development alive so that eventually it adds all the features you desire and more. Of course, you look at the track record of the developer and how he has interacted with his community in the past and factor that in. In the case of PureSim, Shaun's support is 2nd to none. He visits his boards, he answers questions, and he comments about what he is doing. And he puts out the patches when required in a very timely manner.
I personally have used some of my disposable income to purchase games that I knew I wouldn't play a lot, in the hopes of keeping the idea alive for improvement. Sometimes you get burned, sometimes you don't.
As far as the game itself, I love it. It is far from perfect, has some things it could really use (tie-breakers, customization of league structure, and so on). But if people don't buy it, it will never get those things. The user interface is beautiful (in my opinion) and very intuitive. I like the UI so much better than OOTP (but of course this is purely subjective), and I have been playing OOTP since V2.
I had downloaded PureSim in previous years to try the demo and I never liked it at all. I downloaded again for this year and it was like a brand new game to me. The sim speed is as quick as OOTP (in my perception) which was a major drawback in previous versions. As I said, the UI is beautiful, the newspaper articles are amazing, the player cards are easy to use, and there is a lot of customization of the player (for on-field use) plus an editable XML file if you want to tweak how the game plays. (Money, hitting, pitching, etc.). I only wish it had a tutorial on how to edit the thing for dummies like me. "PureSim XML for Dummies".
And of course, who cares what anyone's opinion is. You can download and play an unrestricted game for 7 days and make up your own mind. That's how I was sold. I appreciated the opportunity the developer gave me to let his game do the talking.
