What would make CatoBase truly perfect?
Alright, most of us acknowledge that CatoBase is a fantasitc utility, and Jeff has done a brilliant job. But what additions, subtractions, adjustments would truly make it perfect. The feasible would be more uself, but list anything that you think would be great.
1) My #1 request for CatoBase: use of historical stats. I wish CatoBase could somehow coordinate with the Lahman database, so if I wanted to start a historical league, or a new league, CatoBase already has a built-in history. One of the reasons I hate using CatoBase with a new league (a 2004 league) is because it cuts people stats off mid-career. Can't we import Bonds stats from 1987-2004, so when we look at career leaders in HR, bonds is at the top, and we don't just count the 25 he hit in 2004 (theoretically)? It may take a long time to complilate, but it would be great to have this option.
2) Same as #1, but with Win Shares. If I create a historical league in 1948, Ted Williams win shares from 1939-1947 should be in there, counted in career and player histories. I hate seeing only Ted's stats from 1948 on when I know he had 5 great years that isn't being counted for his career Win Shares.
3) Single game records. I realize this may actually be impossible.
4) The ability to choose Manager of the Year, WS MVP, and Fireman of the Year by itself. Built in equations that you could edit.
