Where can I find info for a corporation-based league?
I'm thinking of creating a baseball league in which each team is named for a corporation rather than a city. I would like to start it in the early 20th century and work up to modern day, expanding it as I go.
The thing is that I'd like to use the biggest, richest, or most recognizable companies, but I'm not sure which companies would be appropriate for which times. Obviously, IBM wouldn't have a team in 1910. But when might they have had one?
Does anyone know where I could find out that kind of information - information about which companies were the richest or biggest at particular times in US history? Any help would be much appreciated.
On a more general level, has anyone tried this type of league or had ideas for a similar one before? I'd like to know what kinds of ideas you might have had that maybe I'd like to borrow.
Thanks.
PS - I wasn't sure which forum would be best for posting this, so Henry or Steve, if this is inappropriate, please feel free to move it (not that you need my permission).
