Offseason Recap
St. Louis does nothing of note
The Cardinals signed one player in the offseason, veteran outfielder Derell Thomas to a Minor League Contract. Thomas, 36 is best known for his PH homer to win Game 6, and the 1983 World Series. This will be Thomas' 17th season. He's a career .249 hitter. Thomas will play every position except Catcher this year. He played for the Dodgers last year.

Hall becomes a Blue Jay
In an effort to replace the power of the traded Darryl Strawberry, the Blue Jays signed Mell Hall to a 6-year deal worth more than 11 million a season. Hall who was last year's NL MVP will team up with last year's AL MVP to hit 3rd & 4th and play Center and Rightfield. Hall hit .300 40HR 123RBI last season.
Little known fact about Hall, he auditioned for the movie RADIO but Cuba Gooding Jr. was picked instead
Proffesional Hitter
Detroit continued on stockpiling on excellent hitting prospects. Last year Barry Bonds and this year 3rd baseman Edgar Martinez. Martinez who will begin in AAA, comes to the proffesional ranks with an excellent eye. He has above-average power potential also.
Edgar Martinez nothing funny at all about him
A Power hitting 2nd Baseman?
The Seattle Mariners drafted 2nd baseman Ron Gant in the rookie draft last week and they got a rare commodity. A 2nd baseman with legitimate power. Ron Gant is also an excellent fielder with above average range.

Dave "overpaid" LaPoint
Pittsburgh Pirates signed starting pitcher Dave LaPoint to a 19.5 million dollar a year contract over 7 years. LaPoint who was 12-8 with a 3.03 ERA isn't exactly a Doc Gooden or Roger Clemens. But it is the Pirates money to spend as they wish.
Dave is now considered in his neighborhood the "rich boy"
The 1987 season coming up soon!!!!
