Series Preview:
The Texas Rangers are the team the Devil Rays wish they were. A solid core of young players competing together despite obvious limitations and a lack of pitching depth. The Devil Rays are heading out on their first west coast road trip, having settled into their familiar last place position in the American League East.

The Rangers, on the other hand, are one of the surprise team of the early going. Despite an infield pack with potential, the Rangers were written off because of their pitching and the increase competition in the AL West made by Anaheim's offseason spending spree. The club has been carried by veteran Kenny Rogers (5-1, 3.332 ERA).
