I think I've posted this at least 12 times, but here goes again.

The recalculate button does not adjust for anything. All it does it give you totals for the previous season you've completed. The reason this is useful is because you need those totals if you're going to try and maintain fairly consistent stats in your league regardless of ratings fluctuations.

If after a season in which the league lead in homeruns is, say, 70, you hit recalculate and go on to the next year, you will end up having a season where the league lead is somewhere in the 20's or 30's. Then if you hit recalculate again the next season the totals will be back up where you started. Hitting recalculate each year just causes the stats in your league to fluctuate between hitting and pitching each year.
