I figured with the tying run on second, the lead run on first, and a left-hander on the mound, I'd be flogged if I didn't pinch-hit, since
Brian Buchanan is a legitimate threat in that situation.
In hindsight...I don't know, I'm not sure that I wouldn't've done the same thing. I'm not one to forego a chance to score or win a game...but you're absolutely right,
Rauch needs a chance to work deep into a game. But at the very least, if I ever want to go to an 8-man rotation, there's at least one guy to plug in there!
