Cutting guys makes sense if you can only keep a maximum amount of cash (10,000,000 in our league) from one season to the next. Any amount over this maximum is given to the other teams. As long as you have enough money over the max, you are in effect not spending any money to cut players with existing multiple year contracts. In fact you are saving money.
