SPECIAL PRESS RELEASE
TRIPLE CROWN WILL RECEIVE TSN COVERAGE
TigerFan's Sporting News has announced that it will start to cover horse racing's most prestigous events beginning in the spring. The Kentucky Derby, the first jewel of the Triple Crown, will be our inagural event and it will take place in May. We will also file reports on the Preakness and Belmont Stakes events.
We are a year away from Citation's triple crown winning season of 1948 but 1947 still promises some excitement. Among the favourites will be Phalanx, with 1945 Derby winner Eddie Arcaro on board, Jet Pilot the real life Derby winner of 1947 and Faultless who is owned by two-time Derby winner Calumet Farm.
The Background
I will be using a freeware game called "Down the Stretch" created by Brien Martin. Here is a link to his site for anyone interested.

The game comes with fictional horses but after watching a replay of the 1947 Derby and doing a fair bit of research I believe I have acceptable ratings for the horses involved in the 3 races. A little more tweaking on the ratings may be necessary but I am close to what I want with them. I believe horse racing was a major part of the sports scene in this era so I felt it was important to have it represented. That leaves college basketball and the Olympic games as the only major events not yet included in this dynasty.
As a side note the issues will probably come a little less quickly right now. The basketball games are being played out by hand using a dice game so it takes about 10 minutes per game to play which slows things down a little. Hockey is also a little more time consuming as I have to manually copy all of the stats for both sports into a spreadsheet. I am also focusing on getting my fictional Salt Lake City Bees dynasty going again.
Feel free to post any questions on a particular athlete, team or sport. Also any feedback on how I can improve this is much appreciated.
