Waiver Wire Move that makes you go...huh??
I kept seeing Sean Casey being placed on waivers and then taken off by the Reds, before they finally allowed him to be claimed by the Indians after the third time of placing him on waivers. This move makes no sense for a few reasons...
1) They currently have no other full time 1B on their active roster.
2) Casey is a career .300 hitter and was batting .299 at the time they placed him on waivers, playing in the majority of the Red's games
3) It was before the trade deadline and they could have easily traded him for some good prospects to a team needing a veteran 1B...
I have the AI Evaluation settings on 50-14-24-12 and do update them every month(per one of the other posts)...I did notice his ratings were kind of low, although he was still performing at a high level... Would it be more realistic to place a greater emphasis on stats(obviously in the beginning of the season, it would be on the prior seasons) than ratings for player evaluation? I have not seen very many of these types of poor waiver decisions, but this was a pretty obvious one....
