well, you may be correct that there is a problem here- although I can think of a couple of reasons why it COULD make sense also. One- perhaps the cleanup hitter is signifigantly worse from one side of the plate (CBLCardinals Pat Burell) and may also have a tendency to strike out and not get the bat on the ball.
