Eligibility for free agency

I couldn't find the threads here where this has been discussed, and a general internet search wasn't conclusive.

A player is eligible for free agency after 6 years major league service time.

This is 6 full years, correct? As in 1032 (6 x 172) days?

If a player has spent, say, 8 seasons in the majors, but parts of some of those seasons were also spent in the minors, and he has only accumulated 1000 ML service days, he is still not eligible for free agency?

I am using Pierre's editor to fix my players' service time counts, and I want to make sure I do it accurately.
