CBL Weekly Report

-CBL Weekly- 5/2/1988

The Hogs continue to amaze. They now sit at 19-7 having won 8 in a row. The are two and a half games up on the defending champion Cincinnati Crusaders and today they brought home the first piece of hardware in franchise history. Andre Lopez, who was on the outs just a week ago turned in an amazing week to win player of the week honors. He went 2-0 with a 1.59 era striking out 14 in 17 innings. Included in their is a complete game shutout of St. Pete and an 8k performance against Buffalo. Lopez has given the Hogs yet another strong starter to go with Kerley, Fulkerson and Evers making the Hogs pitching staff one of the best in the buisness. Even Koon has pitched well for the staff making them strong top to bottom. The bullpen has been lights out as Jamie Priess continues to amaze, he is now at 1-1 with 5 saves an 0.59 era and 24ks in 17innings. These great performances have made the Hogs pitching amoung the best in the lead.

HOGS NOTES:
Antonio Rivas has been red hot latley hitting .471 over the last 5 games. He had 2 triples in his last game.

Lee Paulin, who was red hot recently has now cooled off hitting just a buck-fifty eight in his last five contests.

Alfonso Zaragosa who was signed as a minor league free agent was demoted from AA to A. Zaragosa is now 27 and if he doesnt display the control that Carolina thinks he has he might be done.
