1984 EXPANSION
With the start of the 1984 season and the addition of the Hollywood Stars and Houston Colt .45's to the American League, and the Kansas City Monarchs and San Diego Padres to the National league, the league commissioner has decided to realign each 14 team league into three divisions as follows:

Each divisional winner will make the playoffs, as well as one
WILDCARD. The first round round of the playoffs will be called the Divisional Series and will be a Best of 5 Series. The League Championship and the World Series will remain 7 games in length.
