April 1935
The Indians and White Sox both began the season on fire. Cleveland won 13 of their first 16 games, and they currently lead the AL by a half-game. Chicago won 12 of their first 16. The Yankees are on a 3-game winning streak and sit just 2 games back. The Athletics have won 8 of their last 10 and are tied with the Senators at 4 games back.
The Cubs led the NL early in the month, but they have lost 7 of their last 10 games and are now a half-game behind the Braves. The Dodgers and Reds have been hot lately, but no one has been as hot as the Phillies, who started slow but have won 10 of their last 11 games. The Giants have already suffered a rash of injuries as ace
Cliff Umbaugh, the reigning NL POY, injured his arm and will miss all of May. Outfielder
Foglesong "Fuzz" Allen broke some ribs while diving for a ball and will not return until early July.

Hulse hit .309 with 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in April, but with no homeruns, Indians manager Ben Lafayette could be in for a lot of bad press soon.
