Had the same thing happen to me and I could figure out why. So I did a couple of tests and I came to a preliminary conclusion.
It appears to me that if you import stats, and the player does not play during the next season (sits in the free agent pool) and retires at the end of that season, then they will not appear in the HOF.
I am curious if anyone else can corroborate this or am I having my own issues.
