Given that the recommended number of draft rounds per season is 5, I don't see any problem with this at all. If you allow that the MLB draft typically goes about 50-60 rounds, then round 1 of an OOTP draft represents rounds 1-10 or 1-12 of a real draft. I feel safe in assuming that the majority of high-quality major leaguers were drafted in the top 10-12 rounds.
