Benito started out 14-0-0,9KO's when he lost to Piero Tomasoni in Jan. 1964 in an eliminator for the Italian HW Title. Wins up to that time included two over Rene Goubelle, Werner Wiegand, Erwin Hack, Mariano Echevarria, Federico Friso and Jose Gonzales.
He followed up that first loss to Tomasoni with 4 wins out of 5 fights including an 8th round TKO of Tomasoni in a rematch. He was 18-2-0 with 13KO's then when in Jan 1965 he got to fight for the Italian HW Title against Sante Amonti. Amonti KO'd Penna in the 8th round and after that his career was an up and down affair. Including the Amonti loss he went only 15-17-4,7KO's the rest of his career. He did fight one other time for the Italian HW Title, that late in his career when he lost a 12 round decision in Dec. 1975 to Dante Cane.
The only other noteable win in Penna's career after his defeat of Tomasoni in 1964 was a 6th round KO of Wim Snoek. He did manage an 8 round draw with Eduardo Corletti. Other fights against better competition all ended in losses. Those losses were to Dante Cane in 1966 followed by Johnny Prescott, Billy Gray, Eduardo Corletti, Peter Weiland, Mario Baruzzi, Alfio Righetti and finally to Alfredo Evangelista to finish his career.
