Snipes was an opponent for some of the contenders of the 60's. From Miami Florida Snipes started his career on fire, building a 14-3-0 (5) against the local record builders till early 1963 from his debut in 1961. On the 15th of April, '63 Snipes faces the first test of his career when he fights a young Levi Forte (at that point in his career 8-3-2). He would KO Forte in the seventh round. That earnt him a match up with Tony Alongi in June. Alongi would prove to be to skilled for Snipes and he would suffer his first stoppage loss a fourth round KO. A 3rd round KO victory against Johnny Pew seemed to show that his first stoppage had not effected him. On the 11th of December he was stopped for the second time that year loosing on a 9th round TKO to young Chip Johnson (at the time 3-2-0). On the 25th of Feburary of 1964 he would fight Rahman Ali in the laters debut fight loosing a 4 round points decision. A win over a debuting Jim Hanks and an 8 round points loss to Chip Johnson led to a 12 month retirement for Snipes. Upon his return to the ring he fought on the 23rd of Janu 1965 and won a 10 round points decision victory over Willie Johnson. On the 10th of August he fought Tony Alongi, looking to avenge his first stoppage loss, this time he fared better but still lost a unanimous decision over 10 rounds. A month later he fought Doug Jones and was KO'd in the second round. Five months later and a young Jerry Quarry would further prove his quality with a 5th round KO. 11 months later Hubert Hilton put Snipes in retirement for good with a 3rd round KO on the 20th of January 1967.
