Well I'm kinda a purist and I don't think you should be able to play a guy anywhere on the field just to get the bat. I would learn the guy a new posistion in the minors, just call it a rehad assignment
but everybody dosen't think like me. Alot of this can depend on your leagues rules. if they allow you to play any player anyplace on the field then go for it and get that bat back.
