One thing I haven't quite figured out is how the CPU sets the lineup when it does one of these subs. Sometimes the sub bats in the same spot in the order (even having a .230 hitter with no power batting 5th), and sometimes it rearranges the order in a better fashion.
If you have tired or injured guys, and are at a point where every game counts, it might be prudent to hit the "play" button, set the lineup as you want, and then sim the game to the end.
