I knew in OOTP5 that a "6" in batting average would results in a .285 to .300 average...that a "5" in strikeouts while batting would result in about 100 strikeouts per 550 at bats...that a "5" would give a pitcher about 5 strikeouts per nine innings...that a "3" in home runs would give the hitter about 10 home runs per 550 at bats.
I am bewildered with OOTP6 and have posted several times for someone to explain the ratings so that when we create a custom player or edit ratings for historical players when it is necessary to adjust their ratings. Lahman and Ankit databases require editing for the players ratings to be accurate...although Ankit's is far superior to Lahman and require far fewer edits.
Sure hope someone will give us some knowledge on it.
Sure hope the manual will give us some help.
In the meantime, I have set up this scale to help me edit ratings for my alltime allstar league using Ankit's Career Database:
This is not scientific, just one I designed by looking at player ratings that I imported and trying to get some idea of the ratings ranges.
Contact:
.000-.200...0-19 = 1 (.100 would be 10 on the 100 scale)
.200-.259..20-39= 2 (.230 would be 30 on the 100 scale)
.260-.300..40-59= 3 (.280 would be 50 on the 100 scale)
.300-.329..60-79 =4 (.315 would be 70 on the 100 scale)
.330 plus...80 plus = 5 (Ted Williams was given 87 in contact by the database for .344 average...but Tris Speaker got a 98 for .345...Wade Boggs a 77 for .327)
I created a scale for Gap Power, HR power, Eye, Avoid SO for hitters...and one for pitchers for Stuff, Control and Movement.
It's unscientific and just based a very small sample...I'm no mathematician. Just took the ratings that a player was imported with and made a scale based on that.
If anyone is interested I will post all categories of the above.
I am still putting rosters together and have not tested this scale yet. It will take about 10 more days to get all 20 teams put together and import the players and adjust their ratings.
