DRAYS MAKE BIG SIGNING

Free Agent third baseman Aaron Boone signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Thursday, believed to be in the neighborhood of $1,300,000 for his one season of service. Boone's higher salary was voided by the Yankees after he tore an ACL playing basketball and was believed to be out for the season. Well, it turns out that after the swelling went down the ACL was just sprained, and Boone will be ready to play at the beginning of the season. He should provide great leadership for the youngsters in the clubhouse, and a solid bat in the middle of the lineup for this Devil Rays team. Boone had this to say about the signing. "I haven't had much interest from teams to sign me because they are unsure about my knee, but it's 100% and I decided to come here to Tampa because they are the only team to show that they really want me to play for them. I signed the one year deal so that I can prove to the rest of the league that I am healthy and can put up big numbers. Very happy to be here in Tampa Bay this season and will put forth great effort to help this young team win."
