Rating some "Tomato Cans".....
.....or whatever you want to call them. OK, I took a look at the career of the next Heavyweight that I wanted to rate, Rocco Mazzola from Italy. He fought from 1955-1962 holding the Italian HW Title briefly in 1961. He was 26-12-3,10KO in his career. The latter part of his career you 'll see some guys you might recognize, but many of his early/middle career opponents were the usual array of "Tomato Cans". No disrespect intended here by the way using this term.
Mazzola also held the Italian LHW Title for short while in the late 50's.
Anyway, I decided I'd take a look at these opponents of Mazzola as a way to begin rating some of these "bottom of the barrell" fighters in Europe to help me test ratings on some of the little bit better fighters of Europe of the 1960's that I want to continue rating. So here we go with the first 3 I've done for anyone who might have the slightest interest in these....
First off.....
VAnnes Benassi - Italy
Light Heavyweight 1951-1956
3 wins / 4 losses / 2 draws / 0 KO
Lost by DQ in the 5th in his first career fight to Middleweight Franco Festucci(45-3-2,25) in Festucci's 2nd career fight.
Lost a 6 round decision to future Italian Light Heavyweight Champion Domenico Baccheschi(15-7-3,8).
Fought future Italian Heavyweight Champion Rocco Mazzola in Mazzola's 2nd and 3rd career fights, loosing the first to Mazzola by 2nd round KO while the 2nd ended in a 6 round draw.
Enjoy I hope some will....
