Before I actually do this, I want to see if there's any interest in it, so I figured I'd post the idea.
Last year, I wasn't particularly happy with any of the available historical databases, so I made my own. I never posted it, but it worked like a charm and gave excellent results. It took time to make but followed a very simple standard. Here's what I basically did:
I removed players who had no AB or IP. They're useless anyway. For the remaining players, I calculated a career average for each player in all statistical categories. I then took that career average and, for each season's stats for that player, I averaged the season with his career stats.
Basically, this made rookies import much more like how the player really was. Guys who debuted with 2 AB looked much more like their career numbers. Guys that debuted with 600 AB looked more like their seasonal numbers.
