I wouldn't be too aggressive on criticizing the beta testers. I don't know all the details, but Markus said he was adding features all the way up to the last minute, so you never know what problems he could have introduced then. I know from personal experience that often you introduce bugs when you're putting in stuff near the end of a development cycle after the testers are done with it.
