hit and run - good contact hitter at the plate, usually with a man on second (sometimes first) so a base hit would assure he scores.

Guard line: protects against extra base hits... used in late innings of close games.

Infield in: Man on third and you are trying to prevent him from scoring... usually used late in games. Having the infield in also increases the chance for hitters to slap a hit past the infirelders.

Outfield in: Usually last resort to keep the opponent from scoring... rarely used. If they have a man on third with less then two out, move the outfield in and it will increase your chances of throwing runner out at the plate.

Corners in: Bunt situations... prevents fast players for bunting for a hit.
