I've been a commish of various baseball leagues for over 15 years, and I'm now commish of the United League, an alternate historical league that started in 1951 with eight teams and historical players. We have expanded to 10 teams, and are on the verge of the 1956 drafts, and our New York owner had to leave the league. We have very little turnover, and a great group of active owners. The New York Gothams have (an aging) Jackie Robinson, Larry Doby, Bob Friend, and a lot of young prospects coming up. We don't use free agency, but have a unique system that combines element of free agency with the reserve system that was prevalent in that era.
