We thought that actual ST games would benefit teams by allowing them to test out players. What we found out was that players who did very well during ST would often suck during the regular season. i.e. ST was too small of a sample size to show any real relationship to the actual stats the player would produce. In addition, it extended out our offseason by a few sims. We did it the first year basically to get everyone going in the league while we put the final touches on other areas - we gave them something to look at while we were polishing up the league and website. At the start of the 2nd season, we held a vote and ST was nearly unanimously voted against.
