Global Boxing Experience

We proudly introduce:

THE GLOBAL BOXING EXPERIENCE - The Professional Boxing League

The leading boxing promoters around the world could not ignore the sorry state of their trade anymore and decided that drastic action is needed to awake boxing from its current lethargy. To bring back boxing from the margins of the sports world to the center they agreed to a new form of competiton: a boxing league with teams all over the world. This is the first global sports league ever formed which poses numerous organisational challenges, but also nearly limitless marketing opportunities.

The format:
The league has 12 teams
European Division
London
Paris
Berlin
Düsseldorf Maxx

Atlantic Division
New York
Philadelphia
Detroit
Mexico City

Pacific Division
Los Angeles
Las Vegas
Tokyo
Sydney

Each team fights a regular season of 14 matches in consecutive weeks, the division leader and one wild-card team qualify for the play-offs. The winners of the semifinals meet in the the GLOBAL CLASH to determine the champion. Each match consists of bout in 12 weight divsions, each bout last for 3 3-minute rounds. A KO or TKO victory adds 3 points, a point victory 2 points and a draw 1 point to a team`s score. A fighter, who loses by KO or TKO is banned from next week`s match, a 2nd KO results in a 4-week ban. All team can sign new fighters freely.
Additionly to the team competition the individual honor of GLOBAL CHAMPION is awarded to the boxer with the best won-loss record (min. 10 bouts) in each weight division.

So far so good: I now need the input of you fellow board members. So far I have only one team nickname, Düsseldorf Maxx, which alludes to German all-time boxing legend Max Schmeling, who happened to fight his first pro fight in Düsseldorf, so I need your suggestion for fitting nicknames for the other cities.

The next step is filling each teams lineups. I´ll keep you posted.
