POST-SEASON PLANS

SILVERHAWKS PLAN TO CUT SALARY
LAS VEGAS - With several big contracts on tap, the Silverhawks are planning to cut as much as $10 million from their current off-season payroll. Their projected payroll for 2008 is close to $100 million, which would be tops in the majors. Dark Cloud has said that number is "not acceptable."

So, the team considering deals that will cut payroll. "Simply put, we took on too many bad contracts in the "get rich quick" vein," said Dark Cloud. He said the team would be working on more financial discipline in absorbing bad contracts for players who have not always helped the club long term.

"We've been a little rash, which is understandable when you're trying to win. But we can't do that forever," he said.
