Really it varies depending on the depth of the talent in your league and how the players are developing. What I recommend doing is backing up your league every few years, loading that backup, setting the league totals to what you want them to be after a full season (use league totals from <a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com)," target="_blank">www.baseball-reference.com),</a> sim a full season without human intervention, proceed to the next season, and press the recalculate button on the 'league setup' page to get the simmed league totals. Load the original copy of the league (the one you're actually playing in) and plug those simmed league totals into the era totals on the league setup page. Because of the inverse relationship between the era settings and the way your players perform, this will work perfectly as far as getting the balance of your league set. I've been doing this before every season in my league and it's worked out really well. I've had a few 50HR guys, but most seasons the league leader is around 40 or less, and there are normally around 5 people in each league who hit 30HR.
