Alexander Zolkin
Someone asked for Alexander Zolkin a while back, and I promised to rate him when I got some time. Here he is.
Zolkin was Russian born and fought out of Ohio. He was 28-3-1 with 18 KOs from 1990 to 2000. He was an NABF heavyweight champion.
The big, 245-pound southpaw had an 82-inch reach. He was 8-2-1 against fighters rated in the game. He beat Quick Tillis, Rickey Parkey, Frankie Swindell, Art Tucker, Truth Williams, Bert Cooper, Michael Greer, Tony Tubbs, David Jaco, J.B. Williamson and Anthony Willis.
Losses came to Henry Akinwande by KO, Tubbs by decision, and to Mike Hunter in a bout where Zolkin lost two points for low blows. The draw was in his final fight with Eliecer Castillo.
