The World Series Wire- Game 1
New York Shocks Chicago!!!
White Stockings cranks leaving Union Grounds were not in a delightful mood. Their club fell 21-4 to the Gotham team of the National League. The Nationals were lead by "Death to Flying Things" Ferguson who had three hits and two runs. Rynie Wolters had a nice outing, and he was assisted by a superb Nationals defense who didn't miss a ball all afternoon. Lip Pike went 4 for 4 and was Chicago's lone bright spot. Tommorow the Stockings face a do-or-die game.
