Can I bother you guys with a question?
I haven't bought this game yet, I've just toyed with the demo, but I can't determine if it serves my purposes.
What I want to be able to do is play the 2004 season right along with the actual season when it starts, simming the games each day as they are really played, matching the rosters, line-ups, pitching match-ups, etc. So how would I go about doing that?
Say I buy the game, it comes with fictional players, so I'll have to download the 2003 stats from that "Lehman" site or whatever, right? Then I'll have to manually shuffle around the players that have been traded to new teams to match the current rosters, no big deal. But do these stats that I get from that Lehman site also take care of updating the players ability ratings, or will I have to do that manually too?
Would I use the "create historical league" or the "standard league" function? And I won't need the minor leagues or drafts, just the ability to play the games each day of the 2004 season. I gather I can just turn off the options for all that other fantasy stuff. Also, will I have to manually enter the 2004 schedule, or can I download that somewhere?
Is that an accurate take on what would be involved, or is there anything I should know before I buy the game? Do you think it will be good for what I want to do?
Thanks very much to anyone for taking the time to respond.
