The Senators went 18-8 in May and maintained a lead over the AL. The White Sox went 16-12, slipping to 4 games back. The Indians went 17-12 to remain in 3rd place, despite falling to 5.5 games back.

Brooklyn struggled at 13-13 this month, but they were able to maintain their lead. However, the Giants are just 1 game back after going 15-12. Cincinnati went 18-11 to move into 3rd place, just 1.5 games back.


Batters of the Month:

AL - Michael Wrightson, 1B, Boston Red Sox - He hit .352 with 22 RBI, 15 runs scored and 3 home runs.

NL - John "Pops" Falise, RF, Philadelphia Phillies - He hit .379 with 29 RBI, 24 runs scored and 3 home runs.

Pitchers of the Month:

AL - Dan Twitty, Cleveland Indians - He was 5-1 with a 2.47 ERA and 1 shutout.

NL - Granville Galvan, Cincinnati Reds - He was 3-1 with a 1.03 ERA and 1 shutout.

Jean-Francois "Flaky" Arsenault, SS, Chicago (A) - Flaky hit .356 with 9 RBI and 16 runs scored.

Genaro "Tito" Nunez, 2B, Boston (A) - Tito hit .384 with 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and 8 stolen bases.

"Nasty Ned" Fargo, SP, St. Louis (A) - Ned went 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA in 6 starts.

Will Miller, LF, Washington - Will hit .344 with 20 RBI, 16 runs scored and 5 stolen bases.

Thomas Strasser, CF, Cleveland - Thomas hit .320 with 21 RBI and 17 runs scored.

Chuck "Pudge" Harris, C, St. Louis (N) - Pudge returned to the lineup in time to play in 3 games this month. He hit .417 (5 for 12).

Ahrend "Professor" Nagel, SP, Philadelphia (A) - Nagel went 2-5 with a 7.46 ERA in 7 starts.

Horst "Harry" Nagel, C, Boston (N) - Harry hit .300 with 3 RBI and 12 runs scored.

Ben "Rabbi" Baum, CF, Philadelphia (A) - Ben hit .304 with 8 RBI and 20 runs scored.

Bourbon Allen, SP, Boston (N) - Allen went 2-3 with a 3.34 ERA in 6 games, including his first shutout of the season.

Whiskey Allen, Jr., SP, Boston (N) - Junior went 0-1 with a 12.71 ERA in 2 starts before rupturing an elbow ligament on May 7th. He is expected to return around June 6th. The good news is that prior to this injury, he got talent increases in avoiding hits and getting K's. That returns his avoiding hits talent to BRILLIANT, which is where it was before his broken hand last year.

August "Fat Gus" Kahle, 3B, New York (A) - Just prior to the end of May, Gus was promoted to AAA after hitting .281 in 196 AA at-bats.

Levi "Tyke" Walls, SS, Chicago (N) - Levi hit .308 with 12 RBI and 19 runs scored. He was also named the AL POTW on May 2nd.
