I'm focused on the "last out of the perfect game" clue and I'm just not gettin' there. I'll have to take another angle on it.

By the way, I think you misread the stat line on Splitorff - he just couldn't have been 7-4 in the postseason. The playoffs were only best of 5 back then. I can't seem him getting 11 decisions over that span. In fact, in the 3 playoff years where he played a prominent role, KC could not have won more than 6 games.
