The PABA: Rewriting the Baseball Encyclopedia

Hello! Thanks for reading the tale of the Professional American Baseball Association. The PABA is an alternate history league. The first season will be 1871, and I'll be using real players. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post.

HAS GREED RUINED OUR PASTIME?
New Profeesional Base Ball Association to Start

In Cincinnati eight entrepreneurs meet and agreed upon the formation of a profeesional base ball association. Inspired by the barnstorming success of the Cincinnati Reds, players have decided to sell their efforts. It seems to this writer that greed has grabbed hold of yet another American institution. What is the world coming to when men are paid $2,000 to play a game? Alas, there may be hope. To earn their keep players must abide by a set of guidelines that prohibit such acts as throwing games, fighting, and consuming alcohol while playing.

The first season will see eight clubs take the field. They will represent two "leagues." Each club will play a thirty game schedule, at the conclusion of which, the two teams who lead their leagues will meet in a best two-out of-three "World Series."
