PBCC CLOBBERS CUP CHAMPIONS ON THEIR TURF
MOORE HAS FIVE HITS, INGELS HAS SEVEN RBI AS TEAM DROPS TWO DOZEN RUNS ON NATIONAL IN DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 28, 1882) - The opening game of the highly anticipated Coastal Championship series between defending Adams Cup champions National B.C. & Philadelphia Baseball & Cricket Club ended with P.B.C.C. winning 12-8 in ten innings. In the second game at George Washington Stadium, P.B.C.C. rained down attacks upon National in a blowout.

P.B.C.C. crushed National with furious offense over the first five innings. Four Runs in the 1st, three in the 2nd, one in the 3rd, three in the 4th, and three more in the 5th gave the Philadelphians an unassailable 14-3 lead. Then, perhaps to make a statement that this will be their year, P.B.C.C. added four Runs in T7 and six more in T8 to take a TWENTY-RUN LEAD (24-4) over the Adams Cup holders. After some pointless late scoring by National, P.B.C.C. walked out of Washington Stadium with a stunning 24-10 win.

Ingels had the best day by anyone in the N.B.B.O. so far in 1882, with his seven RBI tying the N.E.L. season high. Through 43 games, Ingels’ Batting Average is .344 (.805 OPS) with 34 Runs (104/84 G) and 44 RBI (86/84 G), figures that make him very likely to make his fourth All-Star Game in as many years in league baseball.

The thunderous win left P.B.C.C. with a record of 28-15, which has them on top of the Coastal Championship by 3.5 games and one postponed game to make up. Defending N.B.B.O. champions National are in fourth at 23-21 (5.5 GB).
