July 2nd, 1993
I got to celebrate Canada Day on a plane but now we are in NYC and ready to build on our least two wins.
The Mets are pitching Curt Schilling (7-6, 4.02).
The Giants have John Burkett (5-5, 3.90).
I am hitting seventh.
The Mets struck first as Lenny Dykstra scored on a Kevin Mitchell double in the bottom of the 1st.
Then Alan Trammell scored on a Greg Vaughn sac fly.
I took care of a B.J. Surhoff grounder to end the inning.
Mets lead 2-0
I led off the 3rd by driving a fastball to left for a single.
With two out, Otis Nixon smacked a two run homer!
Game tied 2-2
Dykstra got the lead right back by leading off the bottom of the 3rd with his own dinger.
Then Mitchell and Vaughn scored on a Surhoff double.
Surhoff scored on a Mike Gallego double.
Matt brought in Joe Hall after that.
Mets lead 6-2
In the 4th we turned a Grebeck - Priske - Caminiti double play.
Then I took care of a Mitchell grounder for the 3rd out.
I came up with one out in the 5th and I flew out to Vaughn in left.
With one on and one out in the 6th, Matt brought in Roger Mason.
I came up in the 7th with none out and Craig Grebeck on 1st. I flew out to Rusty Greer in right.
Craig ended up scoring on a pinch hit sac fly by Mike Brewington.
Mets lead 6-3
Kip Gross took the ball for us in the bottom of the 7th.
In the 8th, Bryce Bernadin scored on a passed ball by Surhoff.
Mets lead 6-4
I handled a Dykstra grounder to end the 8th.
I then led off the 9th, facing Rick Aguilera. I flew out to Dykstra in centre.
We could not score and lost.
34-46
I went 1 for 4 with a single and a run scored.
