We are in L.A., trying to take the rubber match.
The Dodgers are pitching Mark Langston (4-6, 3.82).
The Giants have Charlie Vinson Jr. (2-5, 3.55).
I am hitting sixth.
Pinch runner Damion Easley scored on a Gary Sheffield groundout in the bottom of the 1st.
Dodgers lead 1-0
I came up with two out in the 2nd and hit one over the left field wall for a home run!
That was the first I hit this year! (And 22nd of my career. Matching my number.)
Game tied 1-1
I took care of a Langston homer for the final out of the inning.
I came up with two out in the 4th and reached on an error by Andres Galarraga.
Stolen base #30 and I took 3rd when Ron Karkovice threw it away.
Joe Hall walked.
We were left on the corners.
I handled a Robin Yount grounder for the first out in the bottom half.
We turned a Priske - Naehring - Caminiti double play to end the inning.
We had a good top of the 5th. Otis Nixons cored on a Ken Caminiti double.
Antonio Martinez scored on a Bryce Bernadin single.
Ken scored on a fielder's choice by Tim Naehring.
I came up with one out and two on and grounded out, advancing the runners.
Giants lead 4-1
In the bottom of the 5th, Keith Lockhart scored on a Danny Miranda triple.
Then Miranda scored on a Galarraga single.
Dodgers lead 4-3
I took care of a Shwan Manuel grounder for the 2nd out in the bottom of the 6th.
With two out and two on, Matt brought in Roger Mason.
I handled a Miranda grounder to end the frame.
In the 7th, Ken scored on a double by Tim.
I came up with one out, Tim on 2nd, and Bryce on 3rd. Alex Campos was pitching. I was given the intentional walk.
Bryce, Tim, and I all scored on a double by Joe!
Joe scored on a groundout by Ryan Klesko.
Giants lead 9-3
Kip Gross took the ball for us in the bottom of the 7th.
I came up with the bases loaded and two out in the 8th. I grounded out.
I took care of a Yount grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the 8th.
I caught a Lockhart pop for the 3rd out.
Joe Boever took the ball for us in the 9th.
The Dodgers led the bases. I got the 2nd out at the plate on a Yount fielder's choice.
They did not score and we had the win.
34-45
We are all alone in 3rd place, 9.5 games behind the Braves, and 7.5 behind the Astros.
I went 1 for 4 with a home run, a reached-on-error, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
Tomorrow is a travel day as we head across the continent to New York.
