The "sorry but no" is to say reverting to bucket helmets for everybody is not, nor should be the answer. It is not to say you are not seeing it in your game. Mac users are having sound issues from what I have read. Should we remove sound for all users until it is fixed for them?
In my game I played the Royals today and they had a "funny looking" highlight on their helmets in a similar spot to yours. Not red, but more of a gray. Comparing it to what I see on my Cubs' helmets it looks like it could be the reflection of light on the helmets added this year not showing properly. It is the only time I've seen a helmet look "off", but that spot was in the same spot the red patch is in your screen shot. What's funny is both teams wear blue helmets, just in a slightly different shade. If I played as the Royals I may have posted and hoped for a fix in a patch. I wouldn't have asked to revert helmets that would affect anyone using the Cubs. Maybe that's just me?
Nobody is ridiculing you, reign in your emotions. You posted a graphic issue, with no system specs, and asked for a change that would affect everybody instead of giving them time to find the problem and get a fix into a patch. Then you expect everybody that is not having your issue to what? Say nothing?
Report the issue and give them time to look into it, and you don't hear a word from me. Ask them to remove something from my game that works? I'll answer every time.
I honestly hope they see your issue and have an easy fix. Good luck.
