Single-Season WAR records changing retroactively?

Playing my alternate historical/fiction save and I've kept track of year-by-year leaders for certain stats. I just noticed that single-season WAR records show up as slightly different than in the season it happened. Is this a glitch in the game or something by design?

Like for example, Christy Mathewson has been a beast and has been the NL WARlord in five straight seasons. When the season's ended, those stats were 10.1, 13.0, 12.3, 11.2, and 12.9. But now when I check his player page and the all-time leaderboard, the four older seasons now register as 9.4, 12.3, 11.7, and 10.4; some fairly significant downward corrections. I've seen this with hitters as well. I feel like in my OOTP 22 long-time fictional world I've never seen this happen before. Was this something added in later games intentionally? If single-seasons are changing than that means career numbers are switching around too. Not a game breaker or anything and I know real life WAR does change because the official formulas get retooled from time to time.
