Sole Survivor Series: Easy Town vs Egret, Games 6 and 7 Results (Expanded Stories)

Easy Town Win Evens Series at 3
The Easy Town Assaultrons and the Egret Ninjas will take the Sole Survivor Series to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation, the Assaultrons shut out the Ninjas, 6-0, at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff.
Easy Town right-hander Red Eagle did his part. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball, allowing three hits and striking out three.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Easy Town manager Prince Arthur. "That's what Red is right now."
The Trons took the lead for good in the top of the 1st. After Egret starter Hub Purdue dished a one-out walk to Donnie Gray, Eden Babz followed with an RBI double. Babz was one of five Assaultrons to have multiple hits in the game for the 15-hit performance. Six different players drove in a run.
The Ninjas could not get anything going against Eagle and relievers Tee Browning and Bang Bang Jennings, gathering only five hits, four of them singles, in the game. Joe Bureau's 5th-inning double was the only extra-base hit.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.
Game 7: Egret 5, Easy Town 3
It's Over! Egret Defeats Easy Town
For the Egret Ninjas, it was a joyful time; for the Easy Town Assaultrons, it was gloom and doom.
With a 5-3 win at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina, Egret closed out the championship 4-3 over Easy Town.
The Ninjas have now won their 1st league championship in franchise history. The streets around the Ninjas' stadium were a mob scene, filling quickly with fans, while banners and flags were held high and waved proudly.
"It's unbelievable for us, our great fans, and all of Egret," said a smiling owner Anne Hargraves. "The guys really put their heart and soul into this season and it paid off for them."
It was a tight game throughout with the Ninjas finally breaking through for good in the bottom of the 7th. After the Assaultrons tied the game with two runs in the top of the inning, Egret struck. Tut Cadillac came on in relief for the Trons, set to face C Hugo Steadymaster. With the count at 2-2, Steadymaster hit a high fly to deep right field, sailing it over the fence at 346 feet.
"That was the tarberry on top!" Egret manager Matt "Ballhawk" Getman said. "It is so great. Eighteen years is a long time." Getman was last the champion manager in 2301 with Nordhagen Beach.
In a somewhat somber and dejected Assaultrons clubhouse, manager Prince Arthur said his team "just didn't get the job done."
"The Ninjas played as good as any team I've seen and deserve to be champions," he said.
Shane Powers was named the Game 7 MVP and Series MVP. In Game 7, he went 2 for 4 with two home runs, two runs, and two RBI. His 8th-inning home run finalized the scoring. In the series, Powers was 9 for 26 (.346) with two doubles, four homers, four walks, six runs, and six RBI.
"All fours and sixes, huh?" Powers said. "Maybe I need a number change to keep this good luck!"
A former Bunker Hill 1st round pick in the 2313 Draft, Powers made his first All-Star team in 2319 and now has won his first championship. "It's been a dream!"
The champs finished the regular season 71-59 and claimed 4th place in the South Charles Association Railroad League.
