Manager - Grand Hotel manager Jason Porsche was selected as the 2319 Vim! League Manager of the Year today.

He was somewhat of a dark horse next to some of the more flashy managers up for the award. Porsche, who prefers that everyone call him "Cap" or "Skip," tries to shy away from the limelight in a media-driven world.

"It's really unfair to the guys that busted their humps all year long to put all the focus on me now. They showed up early, put in extra time in the cage, worked on their fielding, consulted with our coaching staff and really made 2319 a highlight in my career."

In fairness to this year's Manager of the Year, Porsche certainly played an important part in the Atoms success as he guided them to a first place finish in the Vim! League Harbor Division and a 52-38 record.

Rookie - The regular season is now history and it's awards time in the Vim! League. This year's winner of the Vim! Fresh Face Award is 31-year-old Keg Gutterson of the Acadia Acadians.

The talented third baseman batted .348, played in 89 games and delivered 120 hits in 345 at-bats. His totals also included 23 home runs, 94 RBIs, 54 runs scored, 21 walks and a .380 OBP.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Rapp Unzelle of the National Park Gulpers finished second in voting, while John Webber of the National Park Gulpers finished third with 1 first place vote.

Mount Desert Island League Awards

Reliever - Aaron Akhurst said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 22 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Haddock Cove Engineers rising star has won the Mount Desert Island League Reliever of the Year Award for 2319.

He captured the award on the strength of his 1.30 ERA over 34.2 innings. He also had 12 saves in 28 relief appearances, 6 strikeouts and only 12 walks.

He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ellis Brittle of the MS Azalea Shipwrecks finished second in voting, while Winn Adami of the Kitteredge Rad Rabbits finished third.
